If you enjoy viewing film locations, you’ll be thrilled to learn that the house was featured in the ’90s horror movie. The silence of the Lambsis now for rent.

John Barr/Link | Horror fan and art director Chris Rowan bought the famous house from “The Silence of the Lambs” in early 2021 and is now opening it to fans

Horror fanatic, art director and film prop master Chris Rowan bought Buffalo Bill’s home (in Perryopolis, Pennsylvania) in early 2021 for $290,000. After Rowan spent more than three months renovating the three-story, four-bedroom home, it has turned into a fan hotspot! It now offers overnight stays, fan tours and special events such as weddings (only if you want a gothic one of course!).

Here’s what else you can do locally.

Rowan explains everything

In a press release announcing the lease, Rowan said he’s offering fans the opportunity to stay at Buffalo Bill’s home for a few days or even a week and fulfill all their fantasies. He revealed visitors could book the location for a maximum of eight people at a time and use the main entrance (the same place where Clarice (Jodie Foster) and Buffalo Bill (Ted Levine) first met) to enter the home. You can also enjoy all kinds of artworks inside, including portraits from the film and fan-sent ones. ICYDK, over the years, fans have submitted many oil portraits of Buffalo Bill and Clarice, including a framed lifelike skull piece. Not wanting to waste these creations, Rowan incorporated them into the space.

If you think of taking a look at the house, the most impressive thing you can enjoy is the basement. Rowan recreated the room in the basement where Bill held Catherine captive in the film and dubbed it Buffalo Bill’s Horror Workshop. He added a vintage Singer Sewing machine, a disco ball, a couple of clothed mannequins, a full length mirror and of course Bill’s signature kimono dress for guests.

Another interesting thing Rowan did was tweak Bill’s playroom. If you climb up the basement and go to the attic, you’ll find a retro-inspired playroom. This room is packed with 80’s and 90’s movies on DVD and VHS and has a large TV for guest entertainment. It also offers games like Pac-Man, Crazy Taxi, Galaga, Asteroids, NBA Jam, and Super Street Fighter for game nights and fun times. In addition to all these action-packed games, there is also a combination pool and air hockey table.

Putting all the spooky aside, there are also many fascinating things in the house. The 1910 home features hardwood oak floors, fireplaces, lightwork and multiple sliding doors. It also features an underground pool that is slated to open in 2022.
